Durability of Biobric and BGV Load bearing units

Bouyer Leroux Logo

Biobric 37.5, Biobric 30 and the BGV units are classified by the EN/BS771.1 Standard as LD (low density) protected units, category 1 (compressive strength probability of failure max. 5%).

The Standard and the CE Mark require to declare the following parameters related to durability:

Resistance to Soluble Salts
Class S0 = No declaration requirement as units are completely protected from water penetration
Class S1
Class S2

Biobric and BGV units are classified S0

Freeze/Thaw Resistance
In the absence of a unified European method test, this resistance shall be evaluated and declared in accordance with the provisions valid in the intended place of use.
Biobric and BGV conform to the French Norm NF P 12-021-2 Annex C.
This states that after 25 cycles (+ 20oC / - 20oC) a unit should:

Not loose > 1% mass
Not show any cracks
Not become friable
Not show any delamination
Not show an alteration to the minimum declared compressive strength

Biobric and BGV units comply with the above and do not suffer any alteration to their characteristics after testing. They are therefore suitable to be adopted in cold climates and high exposure zones.
